Since we're living in a new place and have lots of close vacation spots, we took advantage of the Labor Day weekend and headed to Myrtle Beach, SC. We left Saturday morning after getting our Dunkin Donuts coffee (I swear our car runs on it!) and made the 2.5 hour drive to Myrtle Beach. It was too early to check in at the hotel so we headed to the boardwalk for some lunch at the OceanFront Grill.
Nick was bored while we waited for our food.
But Christopher and Ben had fun!
And Lexie played with our free frisbees!!
After our footlong hotdogs for lunch, we went across the street to Ripleys Believe It Or Not! The kids were very amused by all of the strange things we saw inside.
Like the upside-down Christmas tree (In the 12th century a monk named St Boniface used the triangular shape of a fir tree to explain the Holy Trinity to the Latvian people. In the next five centuries, the tree, hung upside-down from the ceiling, became the symbol of their faith.)
And this picture (This magnificent picture of Christ is composed entirely of the words of the gospel of St John.)
After our visit to Ripley's we walked around the boardwalk. We stopped to do the Ripley's Maze of Mirrors and Jacob took Christopher into the Haunted House. Everyone was starting to get tired so we headed back to our hotel to get unpacked.
Lexie was in love with the bathroom. Although, in her defense, I think we were all in love with the bathroom....
The view from the shower!
Once we got situated in our room we decided to head out for dinner. We went to a local seafood restaurant, Bimini's, for dinner and it was amazing! It ended up being a pretty late night since there was a 45 minute wait for a table, but the kids did really well. After dinner it was time for bed to get ready for our next busy day!
