One of the highlights of this summer was the ice cream truck. We didn't have a regular one when we lived on-post and the occasional ones that would drive by were VERY sketchy. So needless to say, the kids never had ice cream from the ice cream man. Sure, they've had popsicles from street vendors in DC, but never in our own neighborhood.
About a week after we moved in we realized that the ice cream truck came by about the same time every night, and more importantly, didn't look scary. After a few nights of begging and pleading we relented and unleashed the crew (pup included!) on the ice cream man.
Patiently waiting for the ice cream truck
It's here! It's here!! Now what to get?!
Ben enjoying his Shrek popsicle.
So now they can say that they have had ice cream from the ice cream truck and we didn't deny them a typical childhood. And more importantly, they got to do it more than once!!
I tell my kids that when they hear the ice cream truck song, it means he's out of ice cream. Works like a charm.
ReplyDeleteI love that they are all in their jammies! What a cool way to end the day!!
